This is a cabbage dish made in Kerala. This is one of my favourite side vegatable dishes. Well for me one of the treats would be cababge upperi(upkari in konkani), curd, and rice…wow….my mouth is watering now….well we have cabbage, onion, curry leaves, green chillies, and some fresh coconut.
Cabbage Upperi
- Cut the cabbage into very fine strips and wash.
- Add some oil in a saucepan (I use non-stick to make this side dish…less oil…:)..).
- Put some mustard seeds, when they crackle add curry leaves and urad dal.
- Now add the cut onion. When the onion turns pink add sliced green chillies.
- Add the cabbage strips. Add turmeric powder. Cook till it is tender. (I prefer the crunchy, tender cabbage
). - Garnish it with fresh coconut or corainder leaves. If you don’t have fresh coconut you can pour some coconut oil just to give a coconutty flavour to the upperi…
